Guuuuuys.
For the past couple years one of the lines in my standard author bio has been, “I’ve been honoured to be nominated for this thing, and that thing, and this other thing… One day I might even win one of them.”
Well.
I am excited to say that I need to come up with a new bio!
Remember a couple days ago when I told you Silversong had been a Finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards? Well, that was winning, but the prize said ‘Finalist’ because it wasn’t winning first place.
Now, if any other author said that to me I would sigh, roll my eyes and sit them down for a talk about how finishing in the top five, or ten, or whatever is a still a huge achievement — because it is. But because my brain, like so many other people’s brains, is really good at maximizing other people’s achievements and minimizing my own, well, the pep talk doesn’t work when I give it to myself.
But then last night, another very exciting thing happened.

That’s the inaugural CANREADS award for Best Fantasy Novel!
It’s the very first trophy I’ve ever won and I am over the freaking moon right now.
Huzzah!
The other two finalists for the award, The King’s Blade by Anya Rousselle and The Skald Crow by Hanna Park also both sound like awesome books and I have copies of both on my TBR pile. If you like my work you might like theirs as well.
