I first created this website in 2006, and in the fourteen years between then and when I’m writing this now it just kept getting slower and slower. Even moving to dedicated hosting didn’t help very much. So, in April 2020 I blew it all up to start over. As part of that process I’ve begun doing most of my blogging over at Patreon. Thus, you can find all of that right here –> Rhonda Parrish’s Patreon.

Not only can you read many of the posts there without being a paid patron (including all the Calls for Submissions and important updates) if you click the ‘follow’ button on that page it will email you whenever I post a public update as well.

Also, even though I blew up the old blog that was here I wasn’t willing to lose fourteen years worth of work.

Luckily for me, my friend BD Wilson knows a thing or two about this kind of stuff and was willing to help me out. BD archived the old blog for me, so if you’re looking for something that was posted pre-April 2020 your best bet is going to be to check here –> RhondaParrish.com Blog Archive

Really important updates like book releases will also be blogged here as ‘Important announcements’.

I just got a fun email. It was to notify me that Silversong is a finalist in the Fantasy novel category for the 2026 CANREADS award. Huzzah! I am chuffed. Winners will be announced at the end of May so I will let you know then how that goes but as cliche as it may...

2026 Goals

I took that at a writing retreat sixteen years ago. Sixteen! Time is so weird, you guys... The fact that time is so slippery is one reason why I make these goal-setting posts for the year. I know from experience that if I am not careful time will just slip away on me...

I had the honour and privilege of being the 2025 Edmonton Public Library Writer in Residence last year. It was a crazy rollercoaster--far more challenging emotionally than I had anticipated--but I am very proud of the job I did and feel very lucky to have had the...

Award Eligibility – 2025 Edition

Each year I write and share a list of my work from the previous year that is award eligible. It’s an interesting exercise in pride and also humility. It always feels odd to say, “Here are the things I created last year — do you think they are exceptional? Worthy of...

Advent Ghosts 2025 — Red Green Red

Every year I participate in ‘Advent Ghosts’ which is an event where people tell spooky stories around Christmas time to honour the Victorian tradition of doing so. I enjoy the challenge of writing something dark or haunting with the season in mind, as well as reading...

Free Edits in 2026

In case you aren't aware I abhor "Generative AI". I won't get into a big, long rant here, but the short version is that when I first encountered it in the form of Midjourney I thought it was a super fun toy. But once I came to understand how these algorithms are...

Why Giftmas?

There's one question that I have been asked a few times during this Giftmas week that I wasn't sure how to answer, and that was -- How did this all begin? Why do it? The reason why I didn't know how to answer wasn't some deeply philosophical reason, nor a deeply...
