Carrie Jones had an entry on her blog recently which encouraged people to post the first page of their current work in progress. I thought that was a very good idea — so I’m going to share the first page of my Edmonton-based zombie novel, Deadmonton. I hope you enjoy it…or at least are intrigued.
This contains a fair bit of foul language, so read at your own risk.

Wheee! Yesterday I finished the first draft of my new novel, tentatively titled “Shadows”. I usually don’t let anyone see the first draft, but this time I’m changing things up a bit. I’m going to send it to my beta readers as is (well, minus all the comments I left for myself ie: “Check on the color of these curtains” or “Is she blonde?”) and then keep their feedback in mind when I revise…which won’t be for a least a month. I’ve found that letting my work age a bit before revising is definitely a good thing, and besides, I’m going to be busy with Writo de Mayo for all of May
It’s a good first draft, my best yet I think, so I’m very excited about it. Yay!

I’ve just finished signing a book contract with Eternal Press to publish my erotica novel, “The Duchess”. Yay!!!
Last week, after seeing the first three chapters the senior acquisitions editor, Fran Tann asked to see the entire manuscript. That lead to a marathon round of revisions and I sent it off to her. On Monday she told me it was appropriate as an Eternal Press title but requested I make one small change to the novel and reformat the manuscript according to their guidelines. I did so and sent it back to her that same day…and then waited, obsessively checking my email and waiting for the elusive contract to show up.
It appeared in my inbox yesterday. I’ve printed it, signed it and tomorrow I’ll mail it off. Yay!
